Joshua Suslak, Workshop Accompanist

Joshua graduated from the Eastman School of Music and University of Rochester with degrees in Music Education and Brain and Cognitive Sciences. He is the accompanist for the American Boychoir School, accompanying 100+ concerts per year and regular tours at home and abroad. This past year saw a four week tour of China, performing in over ten major cities. Apart from being the new accompanist for ABS, he has worked as a staff pianist at Rider University and Westminster Choir College, as an accompanist for Cantores and Quarter Notes with the Princeton Girlchoir, and runs a private piano studio. Additionally, Joshua accompanies many local schools, theaters, and other musical groups.

As a concert pianist, Joshua has played at many prestigious music halls such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. He has had the opportunity to perform several piano concertos with orchestras, including the Grieg Piano Concerto and Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2. He has had notable master teachers such as Barry Snyder at Eastman and Rita Shklar at Westminster Conservatory. In addition to his solo work, he has performed with his Piano Trio, nicknamed the “Mefisto” trio in Carnegie Hall and various competitions. Although trained as a classical pianist, Joshua enjoys playing Jazz, Rock, and Pop piano, as well as Trombone and Voice.

He has won numerous awards, including 1st places at the Bart Pitman Memorial Scholarship, Marian Garcia International Piano Competition, Princeton Music Club Scholarship, Princeton Festival (senior and open categories), Cecilian Young Artist Competition, Golden Key Music and Arts Festival and the American Fine Arts Festival. Additionally, he was a finalist at the Eastman International Piano Competition.
