Robert Peterson is the leading exponent of the new methodology for training young bassists. In June of 1973, Mr. Peterson began his studies under the direction of Big Band Bassist Howard Cook. Mr. Peterson is a graduate of the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia, with degrees in both performing and education.
In the late 1980’s, Mr. Peterson began teaching string instrumental music for the Harford County Schools in Maryland. Since 1989 to the present, he teaches instrumental music in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional Schools in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. Curently Mr. Peterson is the orchestra director of West Windsor Plainsboro High School South. Mr. Peterson performs professionally as Principal Bass: Bohéme Opera of New Jersey and Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, Assistant Principal Bass: American Ballet Orchestra and also performs in many other orchestral freelance, Stage Shows, Operatic and Ballet venues. Mr. Peterson has performed on orchestra tours around the world: Australia 1981~England, Scotland and Wales 1983~Mainland China and Hong Kong 1985~Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil 1987~Czech Republic and Austria 2003~South Korea 2007~Germany and the Netherlands 2013.
Mr. Peterson’s teachers have included, Robert Cerulli, Neil Courtney, Robert Riccardi, Homer Mensch and most recently François Rabbath.
